About Me

Today anyone can take a picture, the cameras pretty much do it all for you!

I don’t take pictures.

I document and present the magnificent creations of man and nature with the intention of uplifting souls and expanding our vision beyond the everyday experience.

I am Amanda D. Davis, born & raised in Detroit, Michigan and now living in the nearby city of Mount Clemens with my incredibly patient, loving dream husband, Damon, and our two furry children, Buddy the dog and Sputnik the cat.

I have been a photographer documenting the energy, light and wonder of the world around me for as long as I can remember, starting out as a small child with a variety of point-and-shoot “equipment” (can anyone remember the Disc camera?) and working my way up to obtaining my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography from the University of Michigan in the mid-90s.  I developed a love of history and architecture through my studies of fine art and decided to add to my education by obtaining a Master of Science with a concentration in Historic Preservation Planning from Eastern Michigan University in 2004.

I have been the official photographer for the Michigan Historic Preservation Network since 2008, documenting conferences, events and fundraisers for this award-winning organization.   My work has been on view at the University of Michigan School of Art and Design, Regina High School, Anton Art Center, Renaissance Unity Spiritual Community and on the internet.  Clients have included the Motor Cities Automobile National Heritage Area, Oakland County Main Street, Boys and Girls Club of South Oakland County, and others.

My favorite photographers include Julia Margaret Cameron, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Balthazar Korab, Mary Ellen Mark and Edward Weston, as well as many others!!  I also very much enjoy the photography that little kids do, as their perspective is entirely fresh and completely different than what adults produce.

I specialize in fine art Landscape and Architectural photography and also shoot special events, documentary projects, small weddings, natural setting portraiture and special effects art photography.  I use the natural lighting that is available in each unique situation to create unforgettable images and perform minimal post-production processing with professional editing programs.  Please visit my Galleries to view and purchase my work for sale.  Please visit my Contact page to inquire about my services for your personal photography needs.

Thank you for visiting my site!

And please do note: Absolutely NONE of the wildlife in these photos was harmed, touched, posed or manipulated in any way during my time photographing.  Additionally, yes, the sea turtles shown at Punalu’u Black Sand beach are ALIVE!  (Can’t believe how many people have asked me that!)  These magnificent creatures nest on the beach, they are laying on top of their eggs, waiting for the babies to hatch!
